What is Prepaid electricity vending
Prepaid electricity powers South African homes and businesses through prepaid meters. Electricity is priced per kilowatt hour (kWh). The price varies during the month based on how much electricity a customer uses.
Flash has partnered, and tendered in some cases, to sell prepaid electricity on behalf of Eskom, local municipalities and other service providers.
Electricity vending can be done by:
- Selling electricity for a specific meter
- Selling an eeziPower token that can be used to sell electricity while the providers are down
- Free Basic Electricity (FBE) – is a national government initiative to address poverty by offering a limited amount of free electricity deemed to provide basic services
